“I didn’t think that would ever end,” Fowler said, referring to their four-hour debrief as he rubbed his eyes and yawned. Tristan sat beside him in silence. They were all beat and had been given very little sleep before this morning’s meeting.

“How many times do you have to beat a dead horse before you realize the mother fucker is dead?” Hoffman muttered.

Tristan chuckled but continued her silence. She honestly had nothing more to say about the mission and was over talking about it in general. “We have a team building exercise scheduled for 0700,” she finally said as she got up from her chair.

“That sounds like code for PT,” Perry replied with a fake smile.

“You all know me so well,” Tristan laughed. “Get out of here. Take the rest of the day off. I’ll see you all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed tomorrow morning.”

“Are we seriously running a physical training exercise?” Fowler asked.

She simply smiled before leaving the room and heading straight down the hall to go check her email. She held her breath as she waited for the page to load. Then, exhaled nervously as she clicked on the email sent by Janice Brown.
